MARRC Awards Banquet

January 16, 1999

The Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Club celebrated another season of motorcycle racing with the annual awards banquet at the Eisenhower Metro Holiday Inn in Alexandria, VA. Rider and worker awards were presented for a variety of topics, all topped off with a buffet dinner. The complete list of MARRC award winners from the 1998 season are listed on the 1998/9 Awards page.

Special thanks goes to Wendy Karppi for planning the dinner and arranging the rider awards. MARRC hopes that everyone attending enjoyed dinner and had a great time. Congratulations to all the riders and volunteers recognized during the banquet -- all the awards were richly deserved.

Thanks to Dean Beasom for all the photos! And as always, click the thumbnails for the full-size image.

MARRC volunteers These faces should be recognizable to anyone that has been to Summit Point during a motorcycle race weekend. The members of this group have volunteered at least 13 man-days per person, either cornerworking, race school instructing, cooking, or assisting the club behind the scenes. For their efforts, they each have been presented a personalized MARRC logo jacket.

Heavyweight Rider Tim Bemisderfer (left) receives the Heavywieght Rider of the Year Award from John Capen. His brother, Bryan, co-won the award, the first time in recent memory that two people split an award. It's fitting that both share the award, since Tim and his brother swapped the Summit Point track record during 1998. Tim set it last with an amazing 1:16.84.
Morse Cup Harry Morse Cup winner Bill Bloom receives his trophy from Roger Lyle and Judy Morse.
