MARRC

CCS at Summit Point

May 30-31, 1998
Saturday's Results -- Sunday's Results

The Championship Cup Series (CCS) made its second stop to Summit Point this year, bringing again spectacular conditions. The racing both days were just as spectacular, with the Expert GT1 and GT2 feature wheel to wheel fights for the lead. In the Expert GT1 in particular, Alex Swartz and Rick Beggs battled back and forth for nearly the entire race. Swartz eventually won by less than a bike length, and on a Yamaha YZF600 versus Beggs' ZX-7!

And again on this race weekend, everyone marveled at Bryan Bemisderfer, who took his Yamaha R1 to the top of the podium with his win in the Unlimited SportBike event. Those along pit lane were treated to a stand-up victory wheelie ala Troy Corser (dare we make the comparison).

MARRC cornerworkers proved their faithfulness to the sport by standing out in the heat and humidity. Not just a few, but nearly 50 workers watched out for the safety of over 230 riders. The best news of the weekend was that there was only one red flag and no ambulances had to transport any riders.
