    Summit Main Bridge Shutdown

    All,

Be advised that the following information was posted to the CCS website and can be seen here concerning upcoming dates at Summit Point http://www.ccsracing.us/news/old/2015news.html#SPbridge

"LTERNATE ROUTE INTO PADDOCK AT SUMMIT POINT

Summit PointToday, we received the following letter from Chris White, Summit Point's Motorsports Coordinator. Please be prepared to be re-routed into the paddock for our upcoming events at this facility.

    Gentlemen,
Our paddock bridge was recently inspected. It failed. Due to this we need to make alternate arrangements for paddock access during your weekend here at Summit Point. Any vehicle larger than a pickup or van pulling a single car trailer will need to be diverted to the Baker access road and counter race to Pit Out.

During the day, we will have staff at the intersection by the Gate 1 entrance and the Bridge paddock side to divert traffic to the appropriate route. Please make any adjustments necessary to your schedule to accommodate paddock access by larger vehicles. If adjustments need to be made and more time is needed for your racing, please let us know so we can make the necessary adjustments to our staff and schedule.

We have begun acquiring quotes for a new bridge, but as of now I have no timeline as to when to expect it to be replaced.

    We apologize for this inconvenience."

The Safety Committee has been advised and is considering the ramifications this will have on our upcoming weekends. If you have an oversized vehicle, please consider your timing and logistics with attention to this development.

Also note that Summit's "Baker" access road is NOT what we call as Baker.

    All --

Since the last MARRC/CCS event in June, Summit Point has constructed a gated, gravel-paved cutover between Orchard Road and the front straight opposite Pit Out, to be used for rigs too heavy (>8500 lbs) to use the bridge.

At the last 2X4 car club event, bits of gravel thrown up by speeding cars proved to be a safety hazard for our Pit Out workers and possibly others in the area.

It would definitely be a hazard for speeding motorcycles...

On the plus side that could prove useful for getting Junior places.

Good for getting out to Orchard Road. Not a good idea to return to Pit that way...
